Torben Ruberg to join Maersk Tankers as new Chief Information Officer

Torben Ruberg, former Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Vice President of Information Technology at Falck A/S, will join Maersk Tankers as CIO.

Ruberg comes to Maersk Tankers with twenty years of experience in IT leadership and IT operations. The last 14 years, he has served as CIO at Falck A/S.

We are optimising and advancing our IT, which will contribute to Maersk Tankers becoming a digital product tanker company and more agile and cost-efficient in our operations. For this, Torben brings the experience and progressivity we need,” says Tommy Thomassen, Chief Technical Officer at Maersk Tankers.

In 2015, Torben received the CIO of the Year award as well as being chosen as the IT Decisionmaker of the Year. He also acted as an external expert and advisor for the Danish State in the development of IT strategy, governance and management.

I am excited to join the company to lead their IT to new heights,” says Ruberg. “Companies’ reliance on IT technology is growing almost daily, and IT has a prominent role to play in Maersk Tankers to help the company develop strategically. Together with the IT team, my focus will be to provide reliable, cost-efficient and secure IT solutions to the 3,100 employees at sea and on shore to strengthen the company’s service offerings to customers and pool partners.”

Ruberg has a Master of Science in Technology from the Technical University of Denmark. He joins Maersk Tankers on 15 May 2018.
